A Testimony

Dear Jesus,

I used to place so much interest in my ambitions. I achieved good grades all the way to university, furthered my studies overseas and gained much experience over there. However, in all this time I never put you first in my life. I had everything planned out for me as a student but still I felt there was something missing. I had no idea what I was doing all this for. Everything  I had planned out for my life did not satisfy me with happiness, peace or joy. I went into depression, struggled with lust and there was no meaning in all that I was pursuing.

My personal struggles started affecting the people around me too. The devil took hold of one of my weaknesses and started expanding it to other circles of my life. It was then, I searched for YOU in these struggles. You led me to some friends in church who began to share with me Your happiness, joy and peace.  In this group, Lord, You showed me how to pray and read your Word everyday. You showed me how to be transparent in my sharing and to be accountable to another person in the areas of my life that I was struggling to be faithful to You.

Slowly Lord, I began to see healing in my life. Without concrete prayer everyday, I could now see that I was walking into battle without my sword and shield. I had to open up all the doors to You, otherwise the devil would take control and You couldn't heal me until I opened up to You entirely. Finally Lord, I see meaning to my life and see the reason for my living. I want nothing more than to know You more each day and to share this peace, joy and happiness that I've found in You with others.

I ask You Lord, to guide me as I walk this journey and hold to hold tight to Your loving Hands. Amen.

Your Servant.
